Looking at a lakeside home with a friend, I’d wandered into another part of the rambling estate. Hearing a commotion in the vestibule and quickly locating the ruckuses, I found the realtor. It was a woman I’d paid no attention to during the introductions, pregnant and standing in a pool of water. Being a multi-timed mother, I knew exactly what the water meant.

I was assisting her to one of the bedrooms while my friend made a call. Moments later, she was situated, and in rushed the summoned midwife.
Wisdom and no experience told me it was time for me to ease out. In the greeting area, I found a cushioned bay-windowed seat. While taking a seat, my mind shifted to the times when the agony she felt was mine. The pain was so severe life didn’t seem worth the misery.

Not sure how long I sat, thoughts sealed my emotions and transported me back to that place, that cold, gray, sterile room in mind-numbing pain. A loud but exciting sound tugged me out of my musing. The child was born! A new life.

Every seed breaks forth from its container, or else it rots and dies unfruitful.

Life doesn’t accommodate you, it shatters you. God offers our shattering hope, nudging us toward growth. Attempting to save one’s life or comfort zone will only succeed in killing it without hope of reproduction and development.

The cares of this life will come, but they don’t have to separate us from the love and help of God. The verse states, We are killed all the day long for the cause of Christ. Not to be destroyed but to aid us in dying daily to self and the world, so that after we have suffered a while, God will make you perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you, All to His glory.

“Very, verily I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.”

Blessed assurance, “For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities;”
So take courage, “be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might” “And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth.”
Let’s be that Other seed!
