An Overcomer

An Overcomer

A brand new year has begun! Do you feel confined already? Do you feel overwhelmed at work? Are you constantly outnumbered?

There is nothing new under the sun. From the beginning, evil has sought to destroy good. Your combats are very intense and dangerous. Despite overwhelming odds, you are among the overcomers!

Let’s begin with Deborah in Judges 4. Yep, the children of Israel sinned against God. The Lord allowed them to be sold in the hand of Jabin the king of Canaan. Sisera, the captain of the host, had nine hundred iron chariots and for twenty years Israel was oppressed.

Whom did God choose for Israel? Barak was a timid warrior who would not go into battle without Deborah. The message from God assured her He’d deliver Jabin’s army with his chariots and his multitude into her hands – and they were.

The account in II Kings 6 tells of the Syrian king’s war against Israel. He and his counselors made their strategy in the privacy of their camps, but God revealed them all to Elijah. Traveling by night with their horses, chariots, and the Syrian’s mighty host, they surrounded the city of Dothan. After waking up early, Elijah’s servant was alarmed to see the city surrounding him. He aroused his master in horror! Calmly, Elijah told the servant not to fear, then prayed, “Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” The mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire! The enemies were struck blind and never returned to the land of Israel.

In addition, in chapter 14 of I Samuel, Jonathan and his armor-bearer conquered 20 men. You know of David and the lion and bear in 1 Samuel 17. He and his mighty fighting men slew 500 men. Zeruiah alone defeated 800.

Wherever you find yourself with God you are the majority!

The greatest battle took place on Calvary. The world of sin against the spotless lamb of God. For three days that conflict raged, and on the third day, the earth trembled, and the Lord rose and defeated sin, death, and the devil. ALL POWER was given to Him in heaven and earth.

He took His place at the right hand of the Father and then sent the Comforter to provide power for peace and war. In every situation, he is all we need to teach our hands to fight and our fingers to fight. He’s our goodness, and our fortress and shield (Ps. 144)

If you remain faithful until the end, you will come out like fine gold because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. (I John 4:4)

The Love of God

The Love of God

This saga of mine started August 4th, 1949. There have been
almost 70 such Christmas mornings! Each year has had its share of joys and tears, ups and downs, mountain tops and deep dark valleys.

I chanced to be out in the predawn hours on this celebrated morning. It was icy for this part of the country. The quiet was arresting, causing one to stop and look up — my steps slowing making an arch between my destination and my haven. Turning, the ink black sky canvas was lightly peppered with the pinprick sparkling stars. There was one, so pronounced it assured you it was “THE ONE.”

The moon’s translucent radiance rendered me in such wonder I paused in spite of the chill to ponder all that is going on right now. Looking at life widowed, parents gone, children away, sickness, finances bottoming out, crime, hate, wars, and disasters even on this “O Holy Night.”

However, there it was, the moon so very beautiful. Who could bring such beauty and why? GOD, only GOD!

He made heaven and earth. The earth was without form and void. Darkness was upon the face of the deep,
and God said, “Let there be Light.” From there He said and formed until everything that is was created. He put man in a perfect place. Man chose to disobey thus, plunging the whole world in sin.

This turmoil caused by sin rocked on, but the Love that made the world loved so much, another chance was extended to all who would look and live. When the “can’t help it’s” engulfs our lives, unwise choices, heartaches, difficulties and gravely wounded, His love shines through. His Son was sent just for you wherever you are right now.

Out of the millions and millions, I am essential; You are essential and LOVED. The virgin, the manger, the Garden, the Cross all for you, all for me. Christmas is the expression of Love from The Almighty God, Wonderful, Counsellor, The Prince Of Peace, The EVERLASTING FATHER to you and me.
LOVE and Joy to the world!
(Genesis 1-4, Isaiah 9:6)
