Looking at the overall condition of the lives of people, it is no secret the great commission commanded by Jesus the Christ recorded in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” It is just as needed today as then, if not more.
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God in His mercy sent Christ and Christ is sending all those having received the gospel to everyone everywhere.
Luke 10 narrates the compassion and carefulness of Christ. He knew His Father had provided the means by which all could be saved, however, some would reject the invitation.
Two by two He sent His disciple after His instructions and exhortation. Many will turn a deaf ear to the plea but, as they do so He reminded them the rejection is of God so lay it there and don’t take it personally. The burden of personal rejection would cause their response to the rejection to be unfruitful for them. They could not handle it, God can. It’s His plan not ours.
Did it slip their minds it was the same mercy and power of deliverance that allowed them to be in the position to carry the good news?
The words of a song comes to my mind:
O Yes! I’m still amazed.
